Today I was hanging out with my friends at home then we started thinking of a daily menu that will help us though out the week. After we are done talking about food and recipes, we got real hungry. We wanted to make something that doesn’t require a lot of preparing and can be served in minutes. So we took a look in the fridge to see what we can make. Then decided on making beef stir fry.
This beef stir fry recipe is straight forward and easy to make. The vegetables used can be changed according to what you prefer and like. Once the stir fry is ready, you can serve it with either noodles or rice.
You will need:
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil *
- 250 grams beef strips
- 1 small head of broccolli, cut into small florets
- 1 small red pepper, cut into thin strips
- 2 cup of cabbage, cut into slices
- 1 small onion, cut into slices
- 1 garlic clove, cut into slices
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 4 tablespoon soya sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoons pepper
- 4 packets of noodles, enough to feed nearly 4
* Vegetable oil can be substituted for Sesame oil, in case it wasn’t available.
Start by preparing all the vegetables. Once everything is cut and ready, the cooking can be done in a matter of minutes.
In a wok, heat the oil. Then add the cut onions and cook for a minute or so.
Then add the beef and cook until nicely browned.
Add the garlic and cook until fragrant. The beef should be cooked well at this point.
Start adding the vegetables. Begin with the broccoli and stir it for a minute.
Then add the cabbage and stir until it wilts down a little.
Then the red peppers and stir them well.
After all the vegetables are cooked through. Add the soy sauce, pepper, chicken stock, and vinegar. Stir well and cook for 5 mins more.
Server it immediately with noodles or rice.
Happy cooking, and as we say in Arabic “Sahha Wi Afia”
