This is a recipe I created yesterday after watching something similar on TV. Its farfelle pasta with sausage and peas.
I was just in a creative mode and wanted to try something new. I liked the idea of using sausages instead of normal minced meat and thought it would add to the flavors. The sweetness of the pea complimented the sausage flavor very well.
Over all this pasta with sausage and peas recipe was a success and that’s why I wanted to share it with all of you.
You will need:
- 300 grams farfalle pasta, a small pack
- 2 large onions, chopped
- 1/2 pound sausage, casing removed
- 1 cup peas
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter + 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
These are the main ingredients that you will need.
In a frying pan melt the butter and add the vegetable oil, then add the onions.
Stir the onions until its translucent, then keep cooking it on low heat until it starts to caramelize. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant. Then take it off the heat.
In a pot add the olive oil and the sausage and stir until its browned then take it off the heat.
In another pot, heat some water and add a good amount of salt. Once it starts to boil, add the pasta and cook according to the package direction.
Add the caramelized onions to the cooked sausage.
Stir in the peas.
Add the heavy cream and season it with salt and pepper. Stir everything well together. Bring the mix back to a boil then switch the heat off and keep it warm.
Once the pasta is cooked, add it to the sausage mixture. If needed, add about 1/2 cup of the pasta water or until u feel that its saucy enough.
Serve it straight away.
Happy cooking, and as we say in Arabic “Sahha Wi Afia”
